Friday, March 26, 2010 in Research Paper Writing Guide by EssayCapital | No Comments |
Action research papers are quite unique in the nature and methodology of research. Even though the method used for action research can be put under qualitative research methodology, it is slightly different from the normal techniques used for qualitative research. In usual qualitative methods you will be collective data from your subjects Action research is a very long process which involves a lot of planning and physical assessment of the action performed. And converting the whole process into a research paper is not easy either.
You will need to first address the research problem in your action research paper. You must explain why the problem is in need of action and why an action research would be able to find a better solution for the issue than any other methods. While introducing the problem to the audience, remember to set the background for discussion in order to help the audience comprehend the problem and the plan better. State your action thesis in a legible way. This thesis would be the result of your study of the action which was performed in relation to the research.
In the body paragraphs detail on the plan you made for the research and how well it worked. That will add to the credibility of your research paper by highlighting your knowledge on the issue. You must also explain the methodology which you used as well as the specific instruments which were used at the various stages of research.
Remember that the audience must see the action unfold through your research paper. Only if they understand the process fully, will they be able to appreciate the outcome of your research. In the conclusion, you can reinstate your theory, as in any other research paper. Recount the procedure to show the audience how you moved through the research and how it gave the expected results.
The sources which you used to develop your plan must be duly cited. Use reliable sources to ensure the success of the plan as well as to add impressiveness to your action research paper. You may present the report any which way you want, as long as you manage to present it legibly and clearly. Flawless language and the appropriate use of words are most necessary to present an action in a research paper. Hence edit and proof read your assignment before your present it.

The Body Paragraphs of a Narrative Essay
Monday, March 15, 2010 in All About Essay by EssayCapital | No Comments |
Narrative assignments can be a lot of fun if you know how to go about it. The liberal nature of narrative essays gives you more freedom with words and style. This freedom, when used appropriately, can make your essay an outstanding one and the process of writing, stress-free. Even though there will be lesser rules regarding the structure and its components, your narrative should not look like a jumble of words or ideas.
A good narrative will be smooth flowing and organized well enough to form a story. Unlike other essay introductions, in a narrative essay, the introduction need not necessarily introduce the topic or state the thesis. Hence the matter conveyed in the body paragraphs will be expected to make up for the absence of a formal introduction. If you have skipped the mention of your essay topic in the introduction, you must get to it at least in the first body paragraph. Even though it is not mandatory to do so, it is necessary for the audience to be able to follow you.
Avoid too many flashbacks in the body paragraphs. Also, avoid the use of phrases like “we will come to that point later” as these diversions will distract the reader and ruin the flow of the writing. If you are proud of your writing skills you can do it without breaking the flow at all. These techniques, when used well and in a timely manner, can add to the appeal of the essay. But if you are not so confident about your writing skills, it is ideal to progress forward without looking back or hinting on the future, while writing a narrative essay.
Avoid using names repeatedly. Arrange names in such a position as will help you in avoiding too many repetitions. It is the same with events. Do not narrate the same incident twice even with the prefix of ‘as discussed earlier…” because if your reader has a reasonable memory, it would sound repetitive. And the risk of repetition boredom must be avoided, at all costs, in a narrative essay assignment.
Body paragraphs take up the majority of the portion of your assignment. Hence the chances of spelling and grammatical errors are more in these paragraphs. But as in any other writing assignment, structural, grammatical and spelling mistakes will not be permitted in a narrative either. Such mistakes will take huge chunks off your marks. Hence make sure that your assignment has been edited and proof-read before you submit it. While editing your assignment, tally it with your essay prompt to make sure that you have met the objective of the assignment. Even though narrative essays are flexible in many ways, that does not let you compromise on the focus of the assignment. Your essay must fit the given prompt or chosen topic.

Understanding the Purpose of the Dissertation Methodology Chapter
Monday, March 1, 2010 in Dissertation Work by EssayCapital | No Comments |
Dissertation is a document which has many sections or parts. , it is necessary to understand the purpose of each of them and attach it in the right place. Even though all parts of a dissertation document are equally important, there are some which influences the effective presentation of the matter. The dissertation methodology chapter is one of them.
The purpose of a methodology chapter is to introduce your audience to the methodology which was used for the research. The dissertation methodology is the method you use to conduct your research. Even though the methodologies are mainly classified into two – qualitative research and quantitative research, it does not end there. There are various research tools which come under each of these methodologies. You may use some of those tools or all of them as per your requirements. The methodology chapter will explain to your audience, the method and the specific tools used for the analysis of the dissertation topic. That will help your audience to have an idea of what kind of discussion to expect. This chapter has to be properly organized and comprehensibly presented for it to satisfactorily serve its purpose.
There are various stages in your research. There would be the stage of gathering data and then there would be that of analyzing it. That would be followed by the stage of confirming the result of your research and finally there would be the stage of laying out the result for the perusal of your readers or audience. You will be using different types of research tools at various stages of your research. Sometimes you will be using both qualitative and quantitative methods by picking specific tools from each of the dissertation methodologies to reach your aim.
The methodology chapter, which is attached towards the beginning of the document, will explain your research techniques and methods to the audience. The importance of this section lies in the fact that without knowing and understanding the method, your readers will not be able to appreciate the thesis of your dissertation.
You will also use this chapter to justify your choice of tools or methods. You would have had many options of tools for your research. Your audience will, most certainly, be interested in why you chose those particular tools when there were others which were equally good. The importance of justifying your choice also rests in the fact that your audience might have a different opinion on the suitable dissertation methodology for your question. It will not be an ideal thing to have a reader who thinks that your choice of methodology is wrong. That might leave them prejudiced against you and the outcome of your research. Hence it is necessary to make them see the logic of your choice.
The dissertation methodology chapter is a very important component of your dissertation document. Your dissertation guidelines might or might not instruct you on how to frame it. If there are any notes in your guidelines regarding the methodology chapter, you must abide by them fully. If you are not sure of how to explain the methodology, you can consider getting the chapter prepared by our academic writers. We also offer help with research papers, essays and all other academic assignments.

Stating the Thesis Effectively in your Classification Essay
Sunday, February 21, 2010 in All About Essay by EssayCapital | No Comments |
All writing assignments need a thesis to form a focal point for the matter discussed. Without focus no writing assignments will make any sense to the reader. This focal point is better known as a thesis. The nature of the thesis varies with the type and kind of assignment. In a research paper assignment it would state the theory which is to be proved but in an essay, it would be the main point of discussion. In a classification essay, your thesis would be the theory which you formed out of your classification process.
The classification of your topic would reveal various aspects about the topic to you. For example, if you are classifying the types of the types of art forms that are native to a region, it will reveal some unique aspect to you about the region. That aspect would be the thesis of your classification assignment. Your challenge would be to justify the thesis you present. The classification you provide must be capable of doing that. An interesting theory based on the classification, duly justified, is the best thesis for a classification essay.
It is not just enough to find an interesting thesis or theory to write on. It is also important to pay attention to the way you present the thesis. The thesis is mentioned for the first time in the introduction of an essay assignment. It would be the last sentence of the introductory paragraph. It is stated in the introduction in order to let your readers know what the focus of your essay is. The thesis statement also serves the purpose of binding the various parts of the essay structure together by reappearing in the conclusion.
There is a small difference in the way you state the thesis in the essay introduction and the conclusion. While you state it in the introduction, you cannot add emphasis to the point as the reader is still new to the concept or your idea. Even though essay writing doesn’t insist on novel ideas or original thoughts, the perspective of handling the essay question would not be the same for all students. So, in the introduction of your classification essay, you would only be introducing your readers to the impression you have formed on the classification.
In the conclusion, you can state the thesis with more emphasis and authority as you have explained the matter elaborately in the body. You would have already proved your understanding of the topic through your classification and categorization which would give you the authority to form a theory on it. Hence you can take a confident tone while stating the theory in the concluding paragraph. Remember to use the statement in the conclusion to bind the introduction and all the body paragraphs together. This is to be done using the main points mentioned in the body paragraphs.
The thesis must be stated clearly and effectively for the audience to be able to follow your classification essay and its principle easily. It is also necessary to state it in the appropriate way in each part of the structure. All types of academic writing assignments, including essays and research papers, have their own purposes. Your thesis should suit the purpose of the particular assignment, for the assignment to be impressive.

The APA format for Citing the sources
Sunday, January 31, 2010 in Source Citation by EssayCapital | No Comments |
APA or the American Psychological Association has developed a particular style of documentation which is known as the APA style. This is widely used for the documentation purposes of research findings in subjects like sociology. This style has strict guidelines on the methods of formatting the research paper. The method of citing the sources used for the research is also unique for APA style.
APA style uses in-text citations, also known as parenthetical references. The details to be given in the in-text citations include the surname of the author as well as the year of publication. This appears right next to the cited information. The information is to be separated from the text by brackets. If you are directly quoting a paragraph, you will need to include the page number also in the in-text citation. Separate the information using commas. This style of citation is also known as the author-date system referring to the information given on the author and the date of publication.
A references list is to be attached to the end of the research paper. This has to be a separate page, unlike an MLA style research paper where the works cited page can be a continuation of the research paper. The heading should be given as ‘References’. Giving appropriate heading is absolutely necessary while citing sources because each style has its own unique method of doing it. The sources used should be listed under this heading. The list should be arranged in the alphabetical order with reference to the last names of the authors. Use double-spacing between lines. The pattern to be used for the reference page would be: Author, (date of publication), Title of the book, Place of publishing: Publisher, Page number.
APA style does not permit the use of footnotes for the purpose of citing the sources. That is one aspect that sets the style apart from the other documentation styles. It does allow the use of footnotes for the purpose of giving additional information on the discussed matter but while using footnotes, you should make sure that you don’t accidentally include any bibliographic information in it.
Even though these are the methods for citing articles and books, the method of citing other sources like internet sources, television documentaries or interviews would be different. It is necessary that you keep the respective style manual in hand for reference while handling a research paper assignment. It will not be enough to have it in your school library as you might need to refer to it at various stages of your research paper writing.
You also need to pay attention to the assignment guidelines and the instructions given regarding any alterations in the citation methods suggested by the style manual. Each instructor would have his or her own preferences regarding the formatting and citation of the research paper. The guidelines should be your first concern while citing the sources. If there are no specifications regarding the citation in your assignment guidelines, then you should follow the instructions in the style manual for the purpose of formatting your research paper.

The Different Types of Sources for Research
Friday, December 11, 2009 in Research Paper Writing Guide by EssayCapital | No Comments |
Research paper writing assignments come with certain guidelines. One of the most important instructions for the assignment, included in the guidelines, will be that of the sources to be used for the research. The guidelines will mention the number of sources and also the types of sources to be used. It is absolutely important to follow the guidelines in order to secure the best grades for your academic assignments.
Some assignments come with lesser restrictions on sources. Such assignments aim at evaluating your ability to choose the right kind of source necessary for the research. When you are given the liberty to choose the source of your preference, you will be facing the difficult task of finding the most appropriate one. Before starting your search for a good source, you need to know some basic facts about the types of sources. There are different kinds of classifications for sources depending on its various aspects. One such classification is that of the different levels of proximity it has to its actual creator.
The first level which is closest to the author is known as the primary source. This type of sources consists of the books, articles or any creative work which come directly from the author or artist. This includes original works of art or literature which are registered in the name of the creator of the work.
The next level is that of the secondary sources. This category of sources will use the information which is borrowed from a primary source. For example, a news coverage on sex trafficking which mentions a particular article published by an author would prove as a secondary source to the original article. Book reviews, text books which use the works of famous writers and researchers and anything that refers to a primary source comes under the category of secondary sources.
You will find a further level of sources which is called the tertiary sources. This is usually a list or an index of the primary and secondary sources. Tertiary sources give information on primary and secondary sources in abstract or sometimes in an annotated form. It can be a categorized list of books or articles under a certain subject, a bibliographical listing of the works on a specific topic or a list of all the works by a particular author. To be precise, a tertiary source is something that will help you spot the sources you are looking for. Tertiary sources are not usually mentioned in the bibliographical data, unless necessary.
Certain assignment guidelines forbid the use of anything but primary sources. If specified so, it is better to avoid secondary sources even for casual reference. It will be very easy for the people who judge your paper to make out the difference. If you are not sure of how to go about choosing the sources you should consult your advisor or someone who is knowledgeable enough to assist you with the task. The sources can influence the research paper writing procedure a lot. Hence if you are aiming at preparing an outstanding research paper, it is important to understand the different types of sources and choose the most suitable one for the particular academic assignment.

Writing an Impressive History Essay
Monday, November 16, 2009 in All About Essay by EssayCapital | No Comments |
History is a very interesting subject to learn but it will be easy only if you have a good memory. It is a very tedious task to memorize so many dates and places related to events recorded in history. The main challenge in studying history is that you are learning about real people and actual events of the past. This leaves no space of speculations or errors. History essays also become a bit difficult to handle if you are not genuinely interested in the subject.
If you are a history student, try to pay a lot of attention to the lectures. It is important for students of all subjects to be attentive in class but in history it is even more necessary. It might get extremely difficult to find out the information later for reference, if you are not sure of where the data belongs. While writing a history essay you will have to know the sources and possible references, which will usually be mentioned by professors during lectures. So if you take note of all the important points in class, it will help you while you are working on your writing assignments.
The most important thing to understand about history is that, even though it is all about real facts, there are also certain events or incidents which are recorded without proof. Those are still under debate due to lack of evidence. It is important to know if the topic given to you, is one that has been proved or not. If it is a proved fact you will be expected to give more details on the established facts on the topic. In case it is a controversial fact, you might have to give the details of the debated facts on it. Either way, you need to give the information with references and available proof because solid evidence is that, which forms the base of history.
While taking down dates, be extra careful and check it once again before you wind up for the day. It is very easy to make a mistake while noting down the dates, especially when you have been staring at so many of them all day. And if you make a mistake with the dates, all your efforts will go waste because the accuracy of dates is of vital importance while writing a history essay.
Also, remember to note down the sources as and when you pick information from them because it will be difficult for you to go back and look for the source. Cite the sources according to the style mentioned in the guidelines.
Another most important thing to remember while working on a history assignment is to check the spellings of the names of people and places. Again, the people and places are as important as dates when it comes to history.
History essays, research papers and term papers will be regularly assigned to you for assessment purposes. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in library, finding accurate information on the given topic. Without due effort, you will not be able to write an impressive history essay.
