An essay contest gives you a chance to compete with others in writing on different topics. Such essay contests essentially test your skills at logical arguments and how you introduce various points to support the logic. Do not introduce too many themes as this will dilute the paper and the reader will be confused. Stick to a couple of themes and expound on them to cover all aspects. While depth of argument is desired, it should not delve too deeply into a point and make the reader feel lost. Clarity of thought, use of simple words and sentences and an adequate structure are important.

Begin the paper with a couple of lines that tell what you would be covering and why you feel your view is justified. Then build up the content by stating a few points and then continue to expand on these points only.
